Description
This course introduces the fundamental principles and technologies of satellite communication systems. Topics include satellite communication technologies, satellite orbits and orbital mechanics, radio wave propagation and propagation impairment mitigation techniques, signal propagation delay, satellite link budget analysis, ground station and satellite antenna systems, user terminals, remote sensing systems, satellite navigation, guidance and mapping systems, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Emphasis is placed on the design, analysis, and performance evaluation of satellite communication systems and their applications in modern telecommunications, navigation, and Earth observation.
