Exams and Students’ Evaluation

In all courses, students are evaluated during the semester based on exams, homework, and different activities aligning with the nature of the course, reflecting students’ understanding of the course content. Students’ evaluation criteria in all courses include the following.

1. A Midterm Exam allotted 30% of course grade.

2. A Final Exam allotted 40% of course grade.

3. Quizzes (no fewer than two) with 10 to 20% of course grade.

4. The remainder of the course grade (10 to 20%) is assigned to homework, projects, and academic activities.

5. It is up to the relevant department to reconsider the percentages noted above or the nature and number of tests if the course includes a practical part or if required based on academic need or course nature.

6. Students are expected to take the Final Exam of each course. When obtaining a percentage below 25% in this exam, a student is considered to have failed the course regardless of the achieved scores in previous tests.

7. The final student evaluation in a course is determined by adding the sum total of the grades of the Midterm Exam, Final Exam, quizzes, homework, and academic activities together with the grade of the practical part (if existent). The sum total is the student’s final course grade.

The letter grades of the percentages achieved by the students in a course together with the relevant evaluation category are determined as shown in the table below.
