YPU Admission Requirements 

Syrian High School Certificate Holders:

-   Original copy of high school certificate.

-   Four certified facsimile copies of high school certificate.

-   A copy of ID or passport.

-   Four coloured personal photos (3x4 cm).

Non-Syrian High School Certificate Holders:

-  A certified facsimile copy of original high school certificate

-  Four certified facsimile copies of high school certificate.

-  Certified original junior high school certificate or its equivalency.

-  Two Certified copy of junior high school certificate or its equivalency.

-  A copy of ID or passport.

-  Four coloured personal photos (3x4 cm).

In case the GCSE was issued from a foreign secondary school in an Arab country, the following documents are needed:

-  The original GCSE in addition to the original transcript (translated, authenticated and sealed officially)

-  4 authenticated and translated copies of the GCSE

-  The original transcripts of the 9th, 10th and 11th grades (translated and authenticated officially)

-  2 copies of the transcripts of the 9th, 10th and 11th grades (translated and authenticated officially)

-  The Junior High School Certificate or its equivalent (translated and authenticated officially)

-  2 copies of the Junior High School Certificate or its equivalent (translated and authenticated officially)

-  A note of equalization from the Ministry of Education of the country where the student got his/her GCSE showing that the latter is equivalent to the Syrian GCSE

-  2 authenticated copies of the above equalization document

-  A copy of the personal ID and passport

-  4 coloured personal photographs size 3X4

In case the student moved from a Syrian university or institute, he/she need to submit his/her transcript authenticated by the administration of his/her university (president of university) and the Ministry of Higher Education.

In case the student moved from a foreign university or institute outside Syria, he/she needs to submit his/her transcript authenticated by the administration of his/her university/institute with two authenticated copies.

N.B. What is meant by a obtaining a certified facsimile copy?

1. The original copy must be certified by the following parties.

-   The Ministry of Education in the country where the certificate was issued.

-   The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country where the certificate was issued.

-   The Syrian Embassy in the country where the certificate was issued.

-   The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Syria.

If the Certificate or transcript is in English, it must be translated by a sworn translator and then certified by the Ministry of Justice and subsequently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Syria.

2. As for the certificate and transcript authenticated copies, the originals need to be photocopied and authenticated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Requirements of Transfer from Other Universities

1. Syrian and non-Syrian students registered in non-Syrian government and private universities are allowed to transfer registration according to the following conditions:

a.  The university they study in must be accredited and recognized by the country it is located in as well as the Syrian Arab Republic.

b.  Registration transfer from universities unaccredited in their country must be unpermitted.

c.  Students’ GCSE GPA must not be 10% less than the minimum average required for registration in the target faculty according to the admission rules stipulated in the Higher Education Council Resolution No. 126 dated 11/3/2007.

d.  The transferring student’s GCSE must be in conformity with university’s admission rules.

e.  The student need to have passed the first year in their original university or made 25% credit hours in case the university had this system.

2. Students registered in Syrian government and private universities are entitled to transfer their registration according to the following conditions:

a.  Students need to have met the GCSE GPA in the year of admission.

b.  Students need to have studied at least one semester at their original university.

c.  Students are not permitted to graduate from university unless they have studied their at least for one academic year or 25% of the credit hours.

d.  Student’s transfer from open learning, virtual learning, distance learning is impermissible.

3. Intermediate-Institute Certificate Holders may be admitted according to the following conditions:

a.  Students’ specializations must be compatible with those to be admitted to according to the rules of the Ministry of Higher Education.

b.  Students’ GPA in the Intermediate Institute must be at least ‘very good’.

c.  If the student’s GCSE GPA equals that of the admission to the faculty, the intermediate institute GPA is overlooked and the student is admitted thereby.

d.  Students in cases ‘b’ and ‘c’ are treated on the intermediate institute certificate basis.

e.  Credit hours exemption from the faculty to be admitted to must not exceed 20% in accordance with the competent university councils’ decisions based on an exemption decision issued by the University Council.

4. University degree holders may be admitted to the university according to the following conditions:

a.  Students’ specialization must be compatible with that to be admitted to in accordance with the rules of the Ministry of Higher Education.

b.  Students’ GPA must be at least ‘Good’

c.  If students’ GCSE GPA equals that of the admission to the faculty in the admission year, the degree GPA is overlooked and the student is admitted thereby.

d.  Students in cases ‘b’ and ‘c’ are treated on the university degree basis.

e.  Credit hours exemption from the faculty to be admitted to must not exceed 25% in accordance with the competent university councils’ decisions.
