Message from the ELC Director

Teachers pride themselves on having a part in human development. However, Language teachers are even prouder because each language a student learns is almost like being a different human with all his/ her intellect and culture. This new learned language shouldn’t clash with the intellect and culture of the mother language. On the contrary, it should enrich the culture of the learner. Mother language works as a lens on the learner’s right eye which clarifies things on one perspective. The other learned language is like a lens on the learner’s left eye which adds another perspective that completes but doesn’t compete with the first perspective. It is important for any person to try to see through others’ perspectives, but to enable others to see through his is as important.

Therefore, we believe that the ultimate objective of the ELC students at YPU is not only to access the world of knowledge, but to participate in it as well.
